Brief history of TAMSYA

ORGANIZATION HISTORY

TAMSYA is an abbreviation of Tanzania Muslim Students and Youth Association, which officially registered on august 13^th 2010. Before registration the organization operated since 1993 under the name of TAMSA which means Tanzania Muslim Students Association.

The organization deals with capacity building to students in all levels and youth pertaining academic, social and economic matters. It also the association attempts to solve some problems facing community in collaboration with individuals, government, other associations (NGO’s) in Tanzania and abroad. Generally TAMSYA is students and youth voice to their matters.

Our vision:

Vision is to become a high performance and reputable organization that excels in capacity building, Islamic teaching and service provision to Muslim students and youth in regional, national and international levels.

Our mission:

The mission of TAMSYA is to enhance sustainable capacity building in education and economic matters in order to excel in high performance of results and service provision among the students and youth, further TAMSYA’s image as a centre of excellence in knowledge creation and skills development at various levels.

General Objective:

i). To propagate and to enhance the delivery a correct knowledge of Islam so as to glorify

the word of Allah.

ii). To merge students and youth in the struggle against poverty, ignorance, diseases and

moral destructions.

Specific Objectives:

To help students and Youth create Islamic moral behaviors through moral, ideological and social teachings.
To aggravate Islamic brotherhood and cooperation with other organizations with similar aims and goals.
Facilitate entrepreneurship knowledge, skills and competencies that will empower students and youth economically.
Promote access to education opportunities and resources to students and youth in the country.
To merge students and youths in the struggle against calamities facing the society.
To increase awareness to the Muslim students, youth and community at large on education and economic matters.

Organization activities:

To conduct trainings, workshops and groups discussion in order to share experiences and learn from other.
To cooperate with other social, government, religious, national and international organization so as to bring about social and national development.
To supervise, defend and speak up for the right of Muslim students and Youths in Tanzania.
To operate and supervise development projects for social services and to own movable and immovable properties.
To represent Tanzania Muslim students and Youths in the national and international matters.
To create awareness on HIV and AIDS knowledge to students and among Muslim youth.
To volunteer in performing other activities with benefit for Muslim students and Youths as well as the society at large.

TAMSYA area of interest:

The targeted group is all Muslim students from primary, secondary, colleges and Universities and youth outside the education systems in Tanzania regarding school, District, Region and National level.

Experience

TAMSYA has capacity and experience to implement capacity building projects for more than 22 years now.

Projects that implemented by TAMSYA are;

Islamic knowledge program in Primary and secondary schools.
Education in Reproduction Health for youth,
HIV/AIDS Prevention behavior change in Youth and students.
Career plan and study skills training project in secondary schools
Income generating training (entrepreneurship) to graduates and youth out of school.
